Celebrates on the Red Carpet At The 2012 Oscars

Angelina Jolie turned up at the Oscars in a black velveteen, strapless Atelier Versace dress and a Jaime Mascaro clutch bag, she strolled along the red carpet mesmerising the crowds with this sexy slit to the neckline number, some say it was very similar to Jennifer Aniston’s very leggy look at the Golden Globes just a couple of years ago (Valentino couture gown 2010). We so need to move on from Jennifer -Brangelina comparisons, it’s just not fair to keep doing it. Angelina totally stole the show by purposely popping her hip out of the gown. Angelina was gracefully draped in designer Neil Lane’s jewellery and some pretty, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. The gatherings at the top of the corset part of the gown rendered pure elegance. Angelina has an eye for style; she effortlessly oozes sophistication and a refined look at all events.

Michelle Williams was up for the best actress statue at the Oscars this year for her role as Marilyn Munroe. She turned up in a ruched bustline and a 50s peplum skirt. She held a Bottega Veneta blush crocodile knot clutch bag which in Fashion Thirst’s opinion clashed somewhat with the colour of the dress; a reddish, coral and orange glow. Michelle was adorned with Forever Mark jewels which gave her a completed look. Michelle went for a coral-pink lip colour. What do you think of her look? Her minimal make-up, trademark pixie and elfin hair style, and understated necklace really proved popular with the fashion paparazzi. But what do YOU think folks?

John Rocha AW 2012 at London Fashion Week

Lights, camera and action! All the photographers, bloggers, Fashion PR and Press, Fashion students and ardent followers of John Rocha scurry in to the show to get the best positioning. John has lived in the UK for nearly thirty years but hails from the East – Hong Kong. He has spent most of his life in Ireland and has a daughter who is quickly following in his footsteps; becoming a respected fashion designer in her own right. Simone Rocha graduated from Central St Martin’s in 2010.

John’s collection started off with a lot of black, lacy devore and silky georgette textures. We witnessed a swarm of ravens and crows along the catwalk. We observed lots of volume and we were mesmerised by the taffeta, satin coats.

This Gold densely worked dress was in 3D bloom. The layers were bold and the ruffles were big. Fashion Thirst has called it the ‘Ferrero ROCHA’ dress. It was nice and short and emphasis was placed on the upper part of the body. Big golden roses rendered a sense of edgy, bold and big dreams. The volume, elegance and romanticism in this collection allowed us to explore John’s inspiration of the Valley Race Track in Hong Kong.

Look who is on the front row! JJ otherwise known as Jameela Jamil. I wonder if John could get JJ to model some of his collection one day.

Carrie Underwood At The Grammys In A Gomez Gracia Gown

Carrie Underwood wore a long-sleeve backless Gomez-Gracia gown at this year’s Grammys. Carrie looked particularly elegant in this STARTLET gown. The long-sleeve backless gown features intricate embroidered sequins on tulle. Carried donned very subtle jewellery and her black clutch bag had the right amount of sequins to make this outfit a hit. Carrie was put forward for Best Country Solo Performance but didn’t pick up any awards in the end. Her outfit gets a big ‘thumbs up’ from FashionThirst, the length is classy, the backless style is sensual and the long sleeves suggests it’s not Spring just yet. Well done Carrie. Hit 8/10.

Fergie at the Grammys In A Orange Gaultier Dress

OOoh who has been TANGO’d ? Orange will be popular during Spring and lace is certainly still more apparent in high street shops, however the length of the dress did no favours for Fergie at this year’s Grammys. Perhaps a shorter version may have been more complimentary. The fish tale/mermaid shape is not flattering for those with narrow hips (Shakira could have rocked this outfit !!). Fergie bought the Gaultier dress a few weeks ago in Paris. She put a lot of pressure on herself by wearing this – what kind of underwear would you wear with this outfit ? A G string may be too crass but the grannie underwear also seemed to miss the point….sigh. This outfit could have worked had it been nude coloured or even black. Oh well let’s see what she comes up with next time. Miss 4/10 (thumbs down)

Jennifer Lopez turned up at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in a long sleeved, metallic short Emilio Pucci dress. Perhaps we should underline the word short as many fashion critics deemed the dress length as over the top. Maybe Jen wanted to show off her great, toned looking pins. She wore silver, spiked Christian Laboutin shoes, a matching Swarovski crystal clutch bag and Cartier jewellery. She was completely embellished in silver, the sparkling, arrow-head shaped mirror discs probably weighed a tonne. Was it too much of one colour ? Tin foil overload or sparkling diamond ? I willl leave it to you to decide.

Kim Kardashian in a gold Kaufman Franco dress at the Grammys

Kim Kardashian showed off her stunning Armenian-American curves in a gold Kaufman Franco dress at this year’s Grammys. She turned up with her brother Rob and dazzled the crowds with her floor length gown. The dress was a halter neck open-back style, sparkly number which clearly oozed pure sexiness and pushed all the boundaries especially the neckline boundary (plunging). She wore nude Laboutin shoes and metallic eyeshadow; sporting a yellow diamond, reptile shaped cuff bracelet by Lorraine Schwartz on her slender wrist. Many fashionistas are in agreement that she was one of the best dressed felines to hit the red carpet this year. How are we going to keep up with this Kardashian ?

Lady Gaga At The Grammy Awards In A Black Leather Latex Corset

Lady Gaga lived up to her name at this year’s Grammy Awards. She arrived on stage in an incubated egg and performed a few songs. She changed her outfits several times throughout the evening. This outfit is particularly cutting edge. Building on a black, leather/latex corset the middle section goes up into a turtle neck. There are pleats that cover both hips, she dons a ponytail and elbow length gloves. Sexy black, thigh-length boots with 6 inch heels but the most captivating part of the outfit was the armour bum pads. You can’t miss the pads you just have to spin Lady Gaga around! I wonder if she was comfortable sitting. Certainly a trail-blazing trend setter in the S&M domain.

Emma Watson Dazzled Us At BAFTA Awards In A Valentino Shoulder Nude Gown

Harry Potter star Emma Watson dazzled us this year at the BAFTA awards with an off-the-shoulder nude gown. Arriving at the Royal Opera House on a rainy, cold London evening on February 13th she flashed her understated gold earrings and matching gold heels which offset any blandness. The chiffon gown itself reminded us of white/pinkish fluffy powder, one shoulder was completely ruffled and the pleats were encassed with elegant layers of tulle fabric.

This gown came from Valentino’s Spring Haute Couture ethereal 2011 collection. Its length is mesmorising and of course it represents this season’s ‘nude’ trend. Bring it on Emma ! We like the flow.

Fannie Schiavoni Metal Dress at London Fashion Week

Swedish designer Fannie Schiavoni has turned the word accessory into a whole new meaning, with her unique take on chains, and how they’re worn is what keeps her in the fashion eye. This dress was displayed at London Fashion Week 2010. Its a statement within itself its bold, fierce and although it oozes sex appeal probably best suited for the more edgier person. For the mere fact that it reminds me of a re-vamped version of an old suit of armour, is what i think makes it so fashion forward, fresh and original. It instantly screams at the Lady Gaga’s or Rihanna’s of this world.
