I really like the girly, floaty look that’s been around for a while, so I loved this dress, as it teamed that look up, with the Peter Pan collar that was so on trend in 2012. I wear a lot of monochrome as it’s bold but simple, so this dress hit the mark! I teamed it up with a simple belt to emphasise my waist, and some black heels.

It’s from the Miso range at Republic.

Q. How would you rate the comfortability of your shoes, out of 10 ? (Answer question if applicable)

Answer:

10, these are my dancing shoes!

Q. How would you describe your general style ?

Answer:
As a teacher, I try and stay quite girly but sophisticated, with nothing too much on show! I like simple flattering dresses, and try and accessorise with some interesting pieces of jewellery.

Q. Where do you normally shop?

Answer:
I like thrift stores for a good vintage bargain! As for the high street, I like Ted Baker and Oasis.

Q. Who are your favorite designers ?

Answer:

I like Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi’s older designs for Preen, as they had a bit of a punk edge, exploring a lot of historic British fashion looks.

Hayden Panettiere surprised the crowds at the Emmy’s in this Grecian inspired Marchesa gown. She turned up at the 64th Prime Time awards ceremony at the Nokia Theatre Live in Los Angeles with the biggest and most radiant-looking smile ever. The aqua-blue azure tulle overlay (toga style) was elegantly draped over this gold column dress. FashionThirst was particularly impressed with the intricate, embroidery detail at the back, the dress was a good length and really accentuated Hayden’s cute, petite, feminine frame. She looked extremely lady-like. The gold, shell designed clutch bag worked perfectly with the gown. Like Padmi, Hayden went for simple, dangly diamante earrings, though a little shimmery, gold eye make-up would have complemented her look further. The TV cutie and former gymnast keeps fit and takes care of herself by playing volleyball, softball, and baseball each week. Hayden’s Venus-like qualities shone through on this exciting night. We are looking forward to seeing more of Marchesa’s Spring 2013 collection.

Salman Rushdie must have been salivating when he saw his ex wife American, Indian host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi dressed in a stunning orange, strapless sweetheart gown at the Theatre LA Live . She dazzled onlookers at the recent Tinseltown festivities – the Emmy’s. Padma glowed in the bold orange hue, which really complemented her complexion, her svelte, elegant frame was a perfect fit for this curve-flaunting fishtail silhouette. Her dress constantly swept and dragged along the red carpet.
Padma opted for a simple but effective pair of diamond earrings leaving the neck bare and exposed. Less is more and simplicity will always  prevail amongst the elegantantistas (did I just coin a new term ?) Padmi’s marriage to Salman ended on 2 July 2007,  indicating that it was her desire to end the marriage. FashionThirst gives the thumbs up for this look. Orange glows.

I missed the Paris shows – drat! I think I was travelling or just got back from a splendid voyage, I dare say it’s all a bit of a blur. I know that summer hasn’t even started for some of us, however it’s always good catching a glimpse of the Autumn/Winter collection in advance.   Karl is a trusted purveyor of timeless elegance and sophistication.  The Coco Chanel look is not only making a comeback for work attire, we are also seeing the jackets teamed up with casual/smart jeans at airports and in malls all across Europe. Karl’s new vintage collection comprised of softish and nude pinks (I love these hues), dove grey, oyster tones and even magnolia. There were splashes of charcoal grey, silver and black too.

The girly skirts, wide legged trousers and jackets were an immense treat to the eye; his collection did not disappoint. There was definitely an apparent 1920s inspiration going on.  Whilst scanning through the images Lena Horne came in to my thoughts. Karl manages to cross-cut eras like no other designer, there was definitely a sense of 1950s glamour in there too. Karl must have been eating at Sketch in Conduit St. (London) recently apparently he presented guests with colourful macaroons and scones. I wonder if the tea was good. Us Brits are very picky about the quality of tea. So as you can see this lovely pink, classic boucle Chanel suit has been reworked, there is much emphasis on the belt and the large buttons – buttoned up fronts. Note the higher necks, buttoned up and resolutely knee-length skirts, the tweed is fortunately lightweight which is perfect for a chilly, summer evening in foggy London. The pearlescent nude pink feathery frock adorned with chiffon shoulders is divinely sublime. I like these shoulders. The FashionThirst team were all in agreement about the bold but elegant shoulders. They are loud but still distinctly feminine; pure class. It would be totally awesome to see fashionistas sporting the nude pinks with shimmery silver tights in to their wardrobes. I left these images with a sense and feeling of a collection which was somewhat understated but still powerful in essence.

Now tell me is that a Samsung Galaxy in Karl’s hand or an iPhone ? Also, let me know your thoughts on the colour palettes, cuts/design base and textures used.

Actress, model and TV presenter Donna Air stepped out onto the red carpet in London on Monday 18 June in British Designer Scott Henshall’s creation worth a quarter of a million pounds. The ‘Black Widow’ mini dress, which highlighted Air’s slender physique, featured a spider shaped choker adorned with black sapphires and the intricate design expanded across her torso and back into a jewelled spider web.

The multi-talented Air who teamed the dress with an elegant updo and strappy square toe pumps was attending the new Spiderman movie starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans.

Michelle Williams was up for the best actress statue at the Oscars this year for her role as Marilyn Munroe. She turned up in a ruched bustline and a 50s peplum skirt. She held a Bottega Veneta blush crocodile knot clutch bag which in Fashion Thirst’s opinion clashed somewhat with the colour of the dress; a reddish, coral and orange glow. Michelle was adorned with Forever Mark jewels which gave her a completed look.  Michelle went for a coral-pink lip colour. What do you think of her look? Her minimal make-up, trademark pixie and elfin hair style, and understated necklace really proved popular with the fashion paparazzi. But what do YOU think folks?

Shaghai born Ji Cheng transported the audience to the East for her AW12 show held at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout London Fashion Week location.

Fluid holographic fabrics were an unexpected yet welcome contrast when layered against heavy scarlet red knits and the minimalist yet structured shapes conjured up images of 19^th century China in the traditional red, black and neutral colour palette, cinched belted waists and bell sleeved kimonos.

The carefully constructed looks demonstrated Cheng’s well honed skills in draping, particularly evident on a red and black colour blocked halter neck gown which tumbled into a sumptuous fishtail of red silk. A stunning white version was offset with a holographic shortened kimono which gave the collection a 2012 twist.

Design duo Aminaka Löfvander and Marcus Wilmont have enjoyed commercial success, their SS12 currently being stocked in luxury online boutique Net-A-Porter among other boutiques internationally.

For the designers’ AW12 collection the emphasis was an amalgamation of simple ladylike, modest shapes and nipped in waists which provided a perfect base for the variety of prints the pair had experimented with.

A monochrome story of various textures – fur, silk, paisley printed satin – introduced the collection, and rainbow colour splashed prints in digital floral burst onto the silhouettes, which was toned down when layered against longline merino and cashmere knits was the theme of the latter half of the show. You can be sure that Aminika Wilmont disciples will have iPads at the ready to order the silk pieces and leather accessories the moment the line hits the ground.
